Food Safety - Bakery Breaches Continue

Breaches of Food Safety Act - The Maurita Authentic Italian Bakery and Patisserie at Breandan Drive was fined $12,500 last September for beaching the code by using dirty and rusting cooking equipment, storing unsealed food in the coolroom at the wrong temperature and having 'live pests' around the deep fryer.

The business was also summoned to court twice in 2007 and ordered to pay $11,500 in fines for similar breaches.  In January and March 2009, officers found practices had worsened and named 14 areas in need of urgent cleaning.
