    Clubs have been cashing in on new Asian-themed pokie machines and they are proving to be the most profitable in Queensland.

    $4.4 million was taken from gamblers by 875 different machines over 475 locations across Queensland in May 2012 from Choy Sun Doa Jackpot Carnival-V.

    The awareness week is aimed to draw attention to the increasing allergy problems which affect many Australian families.

    A promotion run by the Star Casino is being investigated by the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority to determine if it complies with the laws that govern the casino.

  • Hygiene breaches carry a $22K fine for Bendigo Cafe

    A cafe in Bendigo has been found guilty of 20 Food Act Breaches, resulting in a massive $22,000 fine. The director of The Bridge Bar, at Bendigo, Robert Southcombe appeared in court to answer Food Act breach claims. Some of the breaches that the prosecuting health inspector, Louisa Dicker, noted on her visit on 25th July last year included:

  • Queensland childcare centre staff to meet new allergy rulings

    Queensland childcare facilities will need to meet the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care by January 1. Queensland facilities are now being assessed and there are heavy penalties for non-complying centres.

    10% of kids are believed to suffer food allergies, which has prompted the Federal Government to draft a national framework of guidelines.
