The new Food Safety Amendment Act 2011will do four key things for ACT businesses.

Chief Minister Katy Gallagher welcomed the Act, stating "The amended Act will provide consumers with more information so they can make more informed choices about where they dine out, improving food safety in the ACT and ensuring increased regulatory transparency."

The anticipated implementation date for these changes is August 2013 and it is anticipated that regulations will be similar to those already in place in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
