Hoteliers in Stanthorpe have recently thanked their local liquor accord for contributing to a significant decrease in violence arising from the excessive consumption of liquor.
For the months of April and May 2015 the number of assaults related to alcohol consumption and arrests for being drunk and disorderly were down markedly in comparison with the same period in 2014.
The liquor accord in Stanthorpe is a local co-operative between licensees and police with members of each sharing information and techniques to practice the responsible service of alcohol (RSA).
The accord, which has recently been re-invigorated, is working well and achieving positive results in the region. Licensees of various venues are making a concerted effort to get together to share issues, discuss any problems that they are having and fix any issues collectively.
Stanthorpe is achieving great results and it shows the wonderful benefits of establishing a liquor accord.
